Hidden killer: study probes 10x higher blood clot risk in muscle disease

NCT ID NCT03424460

Summary

This study aims to understand why people with myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) have a much higher risk of dangerous blood clots in their veins. Researchers will test the blood of 130 participants (100 with DM1 and 30 healthy volunteers) to see if their blood clots too easily. They will also analyze liver and blood cell samples to look for genetic reasons behind this increased clotting risk, which could lead to better prevention strategies.
