Which pain block is safer for kids? new study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07256535
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study will compare two pain-relief methods—quadratus lumborum block (QLB) and transversus abdominis plane block (TAP)—in 20 children aged 1-6 years having inguinal hernia surgery. The goal is to measure how much of the numbing drug bupivacaine gets into the blood and how well each method controls pain. The researchers hope to show that QLB provides better pain relief with lower drug levels in the blood, reducing the risk of side effects.
