Do newer blood thinners cause more bleeding in emergency surgery?

NCT ID NCT04216394

Summary

This study aimed to understand if patients taking newer blood thinners (DOACs) bleed more during emergency abdominal surgery compared to those on older medications like warfarin. It involved a very small group of 4 adult patients who needed urgent surgery. The goal was to gather information to help doctors make safer decisions about surgery and medication management for future patients.
