New bladder cancer surgery technique aims to reduce tumor recurrence

NCT ID NCT05223491

Summary

This study compared two surgical methods for removing early-stage bladder tumors that haven't spread into the muscle wall. Researchers tested whether removing the entire tumor in one piece (En Bloc) leads to better diagnosis and fewer cancer returns compared to the standard method of cutting it into fragments. The trial involved 220 patients with tumors between 2-6 cm in size to see if the new approach could reduce the need for future surgeries.
