New bladder cancer surgery technique aims to reduce recurrence
NCT ID NCT07347132
Summary
This study compared two surgical techniques for removing early-stage bladder tumors that haven't spread into the muscle. Researchers wanted to see if removing the tumor in one intact piece (en bloc TURBT) leads to fewer cancer returns than the standard method of removing it in multiple pieces. The trial involved 116 adults who were randomly assigned to one of the two surgical groups and followed for 15 months to track recurrence rates and the quality of the tissue samples for lab analysis.
