Breathing aid tested to strengthen lungs in COPD

NCT ID NCT07193017

Summary

This study aims to see if long-term use of a BiPAP breathing machine can improve the function of the diaphragm, the main breathing muscle, in people with advanced COPD. Researchers will follow 30 patients for a year, using ultrasound scans to measure the diaphragm and tracking hospital visits and survival. The goal is to learn if this common treatment helps the breathing muscle work better, which could lead to better management of the disease.
