Tooth blood test could predict which teeth need root canals
NCT ID NCT07452614
First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looks at 60 people aged 16-50 with deep cavities that expose the tooth's nerve. Doctors will take a tiny blood sample from the tooth during treatment and measure certain chemicals. They want to see if these chemicals can predict whether the tooth will stay healthy after a nerve-saving procedure, instead of needing a root canal. The goal is to find a simple test to help dentists decide the best treatment right away.
