Summary

This completed Phase 1 study tested whether two substances in the blood (sST2 and miR-223) can help predict how well patients with dust mite allergies respond to a six-month course of under-the-tongue immunotherapy (SLIT). Fifty-four patients with moderate-to-severe allergic rhinitis received daily SLIT drops. Researchers measured symptom scores and blood markers before and after treatment to see if changes in sST2 and miR-223 levels matched clinical improvement.
