New Lab-Grown patch could spare patients painful cheek graft surgery

NCT ID NCT05463991

Summary

This small pilot study is testing a lab-made collagen implant as an alternative to taking tissue from inside a patient's cheek for urethral stricture repair surgery. The goal is to see if this bioengineered patch works as well as the traditional cheek graft, potentially avoiding the pain and complications of the tissue-harvesting step. The study will enroll 5 adult men with a specific type of urethral stricture.
