Video games could replace eye patches for lazy eye treatment

NCT ID NCT03655912

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new way to treat lazy eye (amblyopia) using video games on phones, computers, or tablets. Instead of covering the good eye with a patch, both eyes work together — the lazy eye sees a full-contrast image while the good eye sees a dimmer one. The goal is to improve vision and depth perception. About 60 children and adults will take part, and researchers will check if the improvement lasts after stopping treatment.
