Stent vs. surgery: new hope for kids with esophageal stricture?
NCT ID NCT07373522
First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special stent (normally used in bile ducts) can help children whose esophagus has narrowed, making swallowing difficult. Forty children were randomly assigned to get the stent or standard surgery. The main goal was to see if the narrowing comes back. The stent approach may offer a less invasive option, but it is not a cure—children may still need follow-up care.
