Simple blood test may flag ER patients in grave danger
NCT ID NCT07340060
Summary
This study aims to find out if a common blood test result (bicarbonate level) can help doctors quickly identify which patients arriving at the emergency room are at the highest risk of needing intensive care or dying within the next two days. It will involve 6,500 adult patients who have this blood test done when they arrive. The goal is to gather knowledge to potentially improve how ERs triage and monitor patients in the future.
