New hope for tiniest eyes: gentler doses tested for blinding infant condition

NCT ID NCT04634578

Summary

This study is testing whether two lower doses of a medicine called bevacizumab can safely and effectively treat the most severe form of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), an eye disease in very small premature babies. Doctors are comparing a very low dose (0.063 mg) to the standard low dose (0.25 mg) given as an injection into the eye. The goal is to stop the abnormal blood vessel growth that can lead to blindness, while possibly using less medication.
