New technique aims to catch more Stroke-Causing debris during artery procedures
NCT ID NCT07247864
Summary
This study compares two methods to prevent strokes during a procedure to open narrowed neck arteries. Patients getting carotid artery stenting will receive either the standard protective filter alone or that filter plus a balloon device that temporarily stops blood flow. Researchers want to see if the combined approach reduces tiny brain injuries detected on MRI scans and lowers stroke risk in the 90 days after the procedure.
