Personalized spinal dosing aims to stop dangerous blood pressure crashes in elderly surgery

NCT ID NCT07363941

Summary

This study is testing if adjusting the dose of spinal anesthesia based on a patient's height leads to fewer dangerous drops in blood pressure and heart rate during surgery. It will compare this personalized dosing method against a standard fixed dose in 104 older adults (aged 60-80) having planned leg or hip surgeries. The goal is to find a safer, more stable way to administer anesthesia for this vulnerable group.
