Study aims to find safer, simpler path to diagnose lung fluid mystery
NCT ID NCT07419620
Summary
This study aims to find the best way to diagnose the cause of unexplained fluid buildup around the lungs (pleural effusion). Researchers will compare two approaches: starting with a simpler, ultrasound-guided needle biopsy versus going straight to a more invasive camera-guided biopsy. The goal is to see if the simpler first step can provide an accurate diagnosis while being safer, more comfortable, and less costly for patients.
