New blood test aims to spot pancreas infections faster, cut antibiotic overuse

NCT ID NCT07308600

Summary

This study aims to develop a faster, more accurate blood test to determine if a patient's severe pancreatitis has become infected. Researchers will test a new method that analyzes genetic material from germs and the body's immune response in a single blood sample from 200 patients. If successful, this could help doctors target antibiotics more precisely and reduce unnecessary medication.
