ER study aims to end the 'IV Stick' nightmare for Tough-Vein patients

NCT ID NCT06668766

Summary

This study is testing which of two common IV catheters works better for emergency room patients whose veins are hard to find and access. Researchers will randomly assign 270 adult patients to receive either a standard 2-inch 'long' IV or a longer 4-inch 'midline' catheter, both placed using ultrasound guidance. The main goal is to see which type stays in place and works properly for a longer time, reducing the need for painful repeat needle sticks.
