Overnight pill could unlock better diagnosis for millions with stubborn high blood pressure
NCT ID NCT06740838
Summary
This study aims to improve the screening test for a specific hormonal cause of high blood pressure, called primary aldosteronism. It will test if taking a single dose of a steroid pill (dexamethasone) the night before a blood test makes the results clearer for patients who are already on blood pressure medications. Researchers will enroll 240 adults with high blood pressure and an adrenal gland finding to see if this method provides a more reliable diagnosis without requiring patients to stop their regular medicines.
