New tests aim to spot hidden eye infections faster
NCT ID NCT05432336
Summary
This study is testing new laboratory methods to better identify the bacteria or fungi causing serious eye infections like endophthalmitis and corneal ulcers. Researchers will compare newer genetic testing techniques to standard lab cultures in 153 adult patients with these infections. The goal is to see if these advanced tests can find the cause of infection more often and more quickly, which could help doctors choose the right treatment sooner.
