New test spots hidden cancer cells old method misses

NCT ID NCT07478107

Summary

This study tested a new lab method (called OSNA) to find stray cancer cells in the abdominal fluid of patients with stomach or colon cancer. It compared the new method to the standard one (cytology) in 108 patients. The OSNA test found cancer cells in many more patients, suggesting it's a more sensitive tool for identifying those at high risk of the cancer spreading inside the abdomen.
