New test could spare liver patients unnecessary transfusions

NCT ID NCT07437755

Summary

This study is testing if a special blood test (called ROTEM) can better guide doctors on when liver cirrhosis patients need a transfusion before a risky medical procedure. Currently, many patients get transfusions based on standard tests, but this might not always be necessary. Researchers will compare the new test-guided approach to the standard method to see if it safely reduces the use of blood products while still preventing serious bleeding.
