First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether injecting the steroid betamethasone into a specific jaw space could reduce pain, swelling, and difficulty opening the mouth after impacted wisdom tooth surgery. The trial planned to enroll 40 healthy adults with similar wisdom teeth on both sides, giving the injection on one side and a placebo on the other. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
