First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving a steroid called betamethasone to extremely premature babies (born before 28 weeks) can help them come off a breathing machine more easily and reduce their risk of chronic lung disease. About 100 babies will be followed, and only those who meet certain criteria will receive the drug. The researchers will also watch for any harmful side effects on growth or development.
