Scientists race to find best way to make runners lighter on their feet
NCT ID NCT06988709
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing three different ways to give runners real-time feedback—visual, auditory, and verbal—to help them reduce the time their foot stays on the ground while running. Thirty healthy military members or cadets will try each method during a treadmill run. The goal is to find out which technique works best to change running form.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could identify the most effective feedback technique to help runners improve efficiency and potentially reduce injury risk.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study in healthy runners, so results may not apply to injured runners or the general public. The study only measures short-term changes, not long-term benefits.
