Ancient herb may unlock hope for Schizophrenia's hidden struggle

Summary
This study is testing whether berberine, a natural compound, can help improve the 'negative symptoms' of schizophrenia like lack of motivation and emotional flatness. About 120 patients already on stable medication will take either berberine or a placebo for 12 weeks. Researchers will check if symptoms improve and also study how berberine might work by looking at gut bacteria and body inflammation.
