Real-World study tests if lupus drug shields vital organs

NCT ID NCT07056621

Summary

This study aims to see if the drug belimumab can prevent serious organ damage in people with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Researchers will compare 684 patients taking belimumab to similar patients receiving only standard care, using real-world medical records to track who develops new major organ problems. The goal is to understand if this long-used lupus medication can change the disease's course and protect organs like the kidneys, brain, and heart over time.
