Summary

This study tested a new approach to a common behavioral therapy for children with autism who have severe, dangerous behaviors like self-injury or aggression. Researchers worked with 9 children to see if teaching them multiple ways to communicate their needs, instead of just one, could make treatment more reliable. The goal was to help positive behaviors last longer, even when there are small disruptions or delays in getting what they asked for.
