Head-to-Head chemo battle: which regimen works better for hodgkin lymphoma?

NCT ID NCT07450508

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This Phase 3 trial tested two chemotherapy combinations—BEGEV and GDP—in 88 adults with relapsed or refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma. Patients received either regimen in 21-day cycles, and their response was checked with a PET scan after three cycles. Those who achieved at least a partial response went on to high-dose chemo and stem cell rescue. The study aimed to see which regimen had a better overall response rate and longer disease control.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

BEGEV (bendamustine, gemcitabine, vinorelbine) and GDP (gemcitabine, dexamethasone, cisplatin)

What this could lead to

If BEGEV works better than GDP, it could offer a more effective chemotherapy option for people whose Hodgkin lymphoma has come back or not responded to initial treatment.

What could go wrong

This is a completed Phase 3 trial with 88 participants, so results are more reliable than early-phase studies. However, both regimens are chemotherapies with significant side effects, and the trial does not test a cure—patients still need high-dose chemo and stem cell rescue afterward.
