New bedside blood checker aims to stop dangerous transfusion mix-ups

NCT ID NCT04344613

Summary

This study aimed to test a new portable device designed to prevent dangerous blood transfusion errors. The device would be used at a patient's bedside to quickly and automatically check that their blood type matches the blood bag's type just before a transfusion. The goal was to replace manual, error-prone checks with a more reliable, automated system, but the trial was withdrawn before enrolling any participants.
