Bed cycling showdown: which exercise helps ICU patients recover faster?
NCT ID NCT05279547
First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 30, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looks at two different bed-cycling exercises for patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) who are at risk of muscle weakness. Researchers want to see if short bursts of intense cycling (interval training) work better than steady, moderate cycling (endurance training) for improving muscle oxygen and activation. About 100 adult ICU patients on breathing machines will take part to find out which exercise is safer and more effective.
