First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study aimed to see if a single dose of the BCG vaccine, given before travel, could prevent tuberculosis infection in healthy adults visiting countries with high TB rates. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either the BCG vaccine or a placebo. The study was terminated early and enrolled only 16 out of a planned 2000 volunteers, so results are limited.
