Sticky strip and camera may spot skin cancer without cutting

NCT ID NCT06813833

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tested whether combining two noninvasive methods—a special camera (OCT) and a sticky tape strip that collects skin cells—can better detect basal cell carcinoma, a common skin cancer. Fifty adults with suspected BCC took part. Researchers compared the images and genetic material from the tape to standard biopsy results. The goal is to see if these tools together could one day replace the need for a surgical biopsy.
