Heat treatment tested to halt Pre-Cancerous throat condition

NCT ID NCT01360541

Summary

This study compared two approaches for managing Barrett's esophagus with low-grade dysplasia, a pre-cancerous condition. One group received a heat-based procedure (radiofrequency ablation) to destroy the abnormal cells, while the other group was closely monitored with regular check-ups. The goal was to see if the heat treatment was better at reducing the abnormal cells over three years compared to just watching them.
