Doctors track gas effects to speed up surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT07445230

Summary

This study aims to understand how the carbon dioxide gas used during laparoscopic weight-loss surgery affects patients' blood chemistry. Researchers will observe 85 adults having sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass surgery to see if changes in blood bicarbonate levels are linked to how quickly patients are ready to go home. The study won't change any standard medical care—it simply tracks what happens naturally during recovery.
