New balloon device aims to keep scarred airways open longer

NCT ID NCT05895305

Summary

This early-stage study is testing the safety and potential effectiveness of a special balloon coated with a drug (paclitaxel). The balloon is inflated inside narrowed airways caused by non-cancerous scarring to open them up. Researchers hope this approach, used alongside standard care, will keep the airways open longer and reduce the need for repeat procedures. The study will follow 45 adults with severe, symptomatic airway blockages for up to 12 months.
