First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study collects a small sample of fluid from the ears of children aged 3 months to 15 years who have a draining ear infection (otorrhea). The goal is to identify which bacteria are present using standard lab tests and newer molecular methods. By understanding the bacterial causes, researchers hope to improve treatment decisions and antibiotic use. The study is currently recruiting 1,500 participants.
