Drugs or needles? major study pits pills against acupuncture for slipped disc pain
NCT ID NCT06024460
Summary
This study aims to find out which approach works better for managing ongoing back pain from a slipped disc: standard drug treatments or non-drug therapies like acupuncture and spinal manipulation. It will involve 200 adults with moderate to severe pain that has lasted over a month. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either a course of drug-based care (like pills or injections) or hands-on therapies (like acupuncture) for 8 weeks, with their progress tracked for 3 years.
