Can a simple back massage with vicks soothe pain and worry after heart surgery?

NCT ID NCT07508371

First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study will test whether a back massage with a mentholated ointment (like Vicks) can help reduce pain and anxiety in people who have just had coronary artery bypass surgery. About 120 adults will be split into three groups: one gets the mentholated massage, another gets a plain oil massage, and a third gets standard care. Researchers will measure pain levels and anxiety scores before and after the massages to see which approach works best.
