NCT ID NCT07049952

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests a device that gently stimulates a nerve in the ear while babies practice bottle feeding. The goal is to help preterm and full-term infants with brain injury learn to eat by mouth, so they can avoid feeding tubes and go home sooner. About 88 infants who are struggling to feed will be randomly assigned to receive the stimulation or a sham treatment. Early results suggest the approach may improve feeding volumes and strengthen brain connections.
