Scientists search for blood clues to help babies heal faster after surgery

NCT ID NCT06731855

Summary

This study aims to learn if measuring two natural substances (arginine and ADMA) in a baby's leftover blood samples can help predict how quickly they recover from major abdominal surgery. Researchers will observe 30 newborns with certain birth defects, tracking these chemical levels against recovery time and complications. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day lead to better treatments, but this study itself does not test any new treatments.
