Scientists trace Baby's first gut bugs back to mom

NCT ID NCT06241222

Summary

This study aimed to understand where a newborn's gut bacteria come from and whether giving probiotics to pregnant women changes them. Researchers followed 30 healthy, first-time mothers and their babies for six months. Half the mothers took probiotic pills during late pregnancy, and then scientists analyzed samples from mothers and babies to map the bacteria.
