First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding an oral drug called tafenoquine to standard antibiotics helps hospitalized adults with babesiosis recover faster. Babesiosis is a tick-borne illness that can cause fever, chills, and fatigue. About 33 participants will receive either tafenoquine or a placebo, and researchers will track how quickly symptoms resolve and whether the infection is cleared from the blood.
