New drug tested to fight Tick-Borne parasite infection

Summary

This study is testing whether adding an oral drug called tafenoquine to the standard antibiotic treatment helps hospitalized babesiosis patients get better faster. Babesiosis is a parasitic infection spread by ticks. Researchers will compare symptom recovery time in about 33 adults who receive either the new drug or a placebo pill along with their usual hospital care.
