New drug cocktail aims to control rare blood cancer without chemo
NCT ID NCT03620903
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a chemotherapy-free combination of three drugs (bortezomib, rituximab, and ibrutinib) in 53 people with newly diagnosed Waldenström's macroglobulinemia, a rare blood cancer. The goal is to see if this approach can keep the disease from getting worse for at least one year while being gentle on patients, who are often older. The treatment targets cancer cells directly without traditional chemo side effects.
