Antibiotic shot aims for clearer view in bleeding emergencies

NCT ID NCT06077916

Summary

This study tested whether giving the antibiotic azithromycin through an IV helps clean the stomach better before an urgent camera exam (endoscopy) for acute bleeding. Researchers compared the drug to a placebo in 224 patients to see if it improved the doctor's view during the procedure. The main goal was to see if this led to fewer repeat scopes and helped doctors diagnose the cause of bleeding more accurately.
