First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study explores whether experiencing awe—like witnessing a stunning sunset—can motivate adults to engage in preventive behaviors against infectious diseases, such as getting vaccinated, wearing masks, and social distancing. Researchers will survey 456 adults from Hong Kong, Singapore, and major Chinese cities to measure their intentions. The goal is to understand if awe can promote prosocial health actions.
