Awake ear surgery: could a simple nerve block replace general anesthesia?
NCT ID NCT07275450
First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study compares two ways to manage pain during ear drum repair surgery: general anesthesia (being fully asleep) versus a targeted nerve block that keeps you awake. About 128 adults aged 21-65 will take part. The goal is to see if the nerve block leads to faster discharge from the recovery room and less pain after surgery.
