Summary

This study tested whether a medicine called avatrombopag could safely and effectively raise platelet counts in children with long-term immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition that causes low platelets and increased bleeding risk. 75 children participated, receiving either the medicine or a placebo for 12 weeks, with an option to continue treatment for up to 2 years. The main goal was to see if the medicine could help keep platelet counts at a safer level for most of the treatment period.
