New hope for kids with Tough-to-Treat cancers

NCT ID NCT04773782

Summary

This study tested a drug called avapritinib in children and teenagers (ages 2 to 18) with advanced solid tumors, including brain tumors, that had come back or stopped responding to standard treatments. The trial aimed to find a safe dose and see if the drug could shrink tumors in patients whose cancers had specific genetic changes. All 29 participants received the drug, and researchers measured safety, how the drug moved through the body, and initial signs of effectiveness.
